Lee County, Collier County, Hendry County, Charlotte County and Glades County make up the five counties contained within the Twentieth Judicial Circuit.
Whenever there is a judge who retires or resigns or a judicial vacancy occurs on a county or circuit court, the Governor has the authority to appoint a new judge.
The members of the JNC investigate each person who applies to be judge. The JNC then conducts interviews and votes on 3-6 applicants to recommend to the Governor for the appointment.
The Governor then makes his (or her) choice from the 3-6 names that the Judicial Nominating Commission provides.
To be appointed to such an important position within the judicial system is a tremendous honor for Attorney Aaron O’Brien.
